He has been a lawyer, a tech bro, the second one he still apologises for and now a London comedian with multiple sold-out Edinburgh Fringe shows, a SYTYF semi-final, and a writing career that is beginning to attract serious attention. Born in Manchester, raised in Essex, and now based in South London, Sorabh Dhir continues to be a good Indian boy, though the comedy that comes from that background is considerably sharper than it is polite.
An Edinburgh Fringe reviewer described him as having "unique warmth and charisma that brings you in before putting the boot in" an accurate summary of a comedian whose storytelling, fast wit, and charm tend to deliver harder punchlines than the warmth initially signals. His most recent Edinburgh Fringe show, "#IsThisEssex?", was a split bill with Wes Defoe exploring the experience of two Essex guys with very different backgrounds. He reached the semi-finals of So You Think You're Funny? 2024, a competition running since 1981 whose past semi-finalists and finalists include Lee Mack, Peter Kay, Dylan Moran, and Sara Pascoe.
He is also developing as a writer for TV and film. His scripts have attracted interest, and he was a semi-finalist in the Pages International writing competition for his first short story.
