Rose Hoyland
She started doing stand-up in Toronto in 2019 before relocating to the United States, where she became a regular at East Austin Comedy Club, an intimate 82-seat speakeasy-style venue in the heart of East Austin, and opened for Kam Patterson, who has since joined the cast of Saturday Night Live Season 51. Now based in London, she brings with her an international perspective shaped by performing across three countries and in front of audiences with very different expectations of what comedy should do.
A queer comedian with a dark and self-aware voice, her material draws on over a decade of working within the sex industry. The comedy explores the space between control and intimacy from the perspective of someone who has spent years observing people at their most unfiltered. Her current work focuses on her life as a dominatrix, blending personal storytelling with bold and often uncomfortable humour to explore identity, performance, and the contradictions that run through modern relationships.
Alongside stand-up, she works in music and is expanding into screen, with a role in an upcoming feature film. Her output across different mediums reflects a broader interest in performance, character, and storytelling that feeds continuously into her comedy. She is performing at Comedy Freaks in London.
