Gabriel Madden

London comedian Gabriel Madden mid-set on stage in a yellow Dickies T-shirt holding a microphone, left hand raised to his cheek as he performs to an audience at a comedy club London show, warm amber uplighting illuminating the stone wall behind him.

Not all comedy comes from a dramatic premise. Some of the best stand-up is built around the specific, slightly ridiculous details of an ordinary life: the relationship that is, against all comedic odds, genuinely going well; the very particular dedication to finding a good bakery; the business of being a young man from North London who thinks about things perhaps a little more than strictly necessary. Gabriel Madden's material sits squarely in this territory, and it works because it comes from a comedian who is genuinely interested in the texture of his own experience rather than performing a version of it.

Originally from Friern Barnet in North London, Gabriel has been building his presence on the London comedy circuit, performing at venues across the capital. His style is observational and self-aware, drawing on relationship material, personal quirks, and the comedy of everyday life without leaning on exaggeration to get there. The set-up is: what actually happens when you pay attention to the small, specific things. It turns out quite a lot of it is funny, particularly if you have strong opinions about pastry.

Gabriel describes himself as both a self-deprecating comedian and, in the same breath, a perfectly normal person who is doing absolutely fine. Whether or not that tension is the point is left productively unresolved.
