Eshaan Akbar

A close-up portrait of comedian Eshaan Akbar wearing glasses and a black shirt with gold embroidery, a familiar face in the London stand-up comedy scene.

Eshaan Akbar is a truly multi-faceted talent, bringing a wealth of experience from his varied career to the stage. As an English comedian, writer, and actor of Pakistani and Bangladeshi ancestry, he has forged a unique path through the entertainment world. Before becoming a prominent figure in comedy, Eshaan worked in wealth management and at a number of charities and even had a stint as a Bollywood dance choreographer.

His journey into stand-up began in 2014, and he quickly made a name for himself as a finalist in both the So You Think You're Funny and Laughing Horse competitions in the same year. Since then, he has gone on to support some of the biggest names in comedy, including Micky Flanagan, Dane Baptiste, and Jason Manford. Eshaan's television credits are just as impressive, with appearances on shows like Live At The Apollo, Mock the Week, and QI, along with starring as Principal Lakhani in season four of the Netflix series Sex Education. On radio, he hosted a regular show for the BBC Asian Network and created the Audible podcast Panic Room.

Eshaan’s diverse background and unconventional path perfectly embody the rebellious spirit and creative freedom of Comedy Freaks. His ability to draw on such a rich life experience makes him a dynamic, must-see act who adds to the rich mix of the best up-and-coming and pro TV comics on our stage.
